About Us
JAN MATSON, originally from Adelaide, began painting seriously while living in Alice Springs in the early 1980's where she won the Centralian Advocate Art Award. Since that time, various private and public collectors from Australia, United States, United Kingdom and the Ministry of Culture in Beijing have bought her paintings. Jan has been painting in oils for more than 30 years.
Jan's first solo exhibition was in 2000 celebrating her life-long love of colour, A Love Affair with Colour and later that year, From the Bush to the Sea.
From 2001, Jan has travelled extensively in Europe and produced solo exhibitions called Room With Many Views (2002), A Villa In Tuscany (2003), An Affair With France (2004), Journey to Croatia and the Adriatic (2005), Sojourn In Europe (2006) and A Taste of Venice and Tuscany (2008).
Australiana exhibitions Coastal Moods (2007) and A Country Life (2009) show her equal love of Australian landscapes and quaint country cottages. Each of these were enthusiastically received and resulted in Jan's paintings being sought after by discerning collectors.
Jan's website, janmatson.com, shows examples of paintings from each of these exhibitions.
